I started at a particular spot, at the front doors.
I walked at the same pace to go clockwise around the school.
It said 960 steps.
My prediction was 40 steps more than I walked.
I felt glad because it was a lot of steps and my estimate was close.
It was fun walking around the school and looking at my pedometer.

My Pedometer
Today I plan to walk around the school to measure how far it is around the school. I predict that it will be 1000 steps to go around our school. I think that because inside the school I walk 500 steps, so it will be bigger than 500 steps outside.

Pedometers from Canadian Space Agency - Great Fun
Today we received a pedometer. Everyone in the class got one.
We put our names on each pedometer and tested them out.
Some people went to the office and back (77 steps).
Others went to Mr. Lloyd's room and back (75 steps).
Another student went to the Library and back (84 steps).
We will do more experiments later today.
It was great fun!

TOO MUCH NOISE IN THE COMPUTER LAB
In the computer lab the keyboard goes click clack click clack. When you turn one the computer it goes snap. When you press the buttons on the mouse the buttons go click, click, click. When Makenzie pulls the chair out she says to much noise! So she goes to the wise librarian and says there is to much noise in the computer lab. So the wise librarian said go get a noisy group of people. Makenzie went and got a noisy group of people. But the computer lab was still to noisy. She went back to the wise librarian and said the computer lab is still to noisy. So the wise librarian said get some music for the people to dance to. But it was still to noisy. Makenzie went back and the wise librarian said get ride of the music and get ride of the noisy group of people. So Makenzie did that. But when she tiped the keyboard still went click clack click clack. When she pressed the mouse it still went click, click, click and when she turns on the computer it still goes snap!

Tomato Sphere
The grade 2/3 class is doing something called tomato sphere. It is really fun planting tomatoes. We got the tomato seeds in a letter from the Canadian Space Agency. It is a project to see if tomatoes grow in space and maybe on the planet Mars. I hope the tomatoes will survive on mars.

Perth Road School yard from our lens

This is looking West from our school. These maple trees were planted by the Garden Club at Perth Road Public School. Right now they do not give us that much shade. In the future they will give us shade.

The rock that these students are sitting on is at the East side of our school. The rocks are part of the Canadian Sheild.

Two kids from our class are sliding down our slide. Only two people can go on the slide at once because if another person goes, the person could hit somebody.

Questions and Sentences for Robert Thirsk on the ISS
To Mr. Thirsk
Questions and Sentences
Have you got sick?
Have you seen a UFO?
Have you seen a meteor?
Do you like it in space?
How long do you have to stretch your legs for?
How big are the clouds?
How big are the planets?
What kind of sickness do you get?
How sick did you get on the rocket ship?
Did it get bumpy at any point of the ride?
Did you puke in the rocket ship?
What time will you get to the station?
Is it nice to go in the ISS?
Is it pm or am when you get off work?
What is it like in the ISS?
Does your food and drinks float?
What do you sleep in?
Do you do the spacewalk a lot in the International space station?
What is it like in the ISS for six months?

Get fit for space
The grade 2/3 class got into the get fit for space program. Also, we have done walking and skipping to get more and more closer to the 340 km. We are so excited every day because the space station is getting closer. And on Wednesday we finished it.

POND STUDY
To: Robert Thirsk
We have been going to our pond to do pond studying. We go several times every season to see the new changes. We went to the pond on Friday the 8th in the after noon. We saw a snake and we saw a blue dragonfly. It is very fun!

Space and earth
All you can see are stars,
And all that we can see are cars.
We can smell lots of flowers,
But you have to stay inside for hours.
We can go outside to play,
But you are mostly inside to stay.

Sounds On Earth poem by Megan and Emma
Sounds On Earth
Birds are chirping,
Rain is falling,
Wind is blowing,
Softly calling,
Flowers are slowly
Growing,
Grass is gracefully swaying,
Bees are working,
With great speed,
We are planting,
Seed by seed.

WHAT THE WEATHER IS LIKE
Today Monday June 8 it is going to rain. I am not sure its right because sometimes the weather network is wrong. Right now it is sunny but a little cool. I hope it will be sunny all day because if it rains we have to stay in side. But if it is sunny we get to play outside. My school is fun!!!

We Were Wondering. . .
Kayla and Tyler have created a few of the many questions we are asking as we follow the ISS.
1. Is it always dark in space?
2. How do you go to the bathroom on the space ship?
3. Did you feel sick when you lift off?
4. What is it like to work with other people?
5. Is it fun in space?
6. What do you hear in space?
7. Is it fun to play in space?
8. Does the space station have a tv?
9. Is the space station big?
10. Does it feel weard when you lifted off?
11. Is it fun to fun to flout in space?
12. Is it crowded in the space ship?
13. Do you like Earth better than space?
14. What is it like in space?
15. Do you see neat stuff in space tell us all about it?
P.S. Have a fun and safe ride back. And don’t forget about having fun doing your work.

Question We Hope Robert Thirsk Might Think about
Is it hard walking in the ISS?
Does your Food float when you are in space?
How do you sleep in the ISS?
How do you have baths or showers?
When you drink does it float or not?
Where do you go to the bathroom?
When do you go to bed?
Is it cool being the ISS?
Do you miss all the sounds on earth?
Would you rather be in the ISS or on earth?
Is it hard walking on the ground when you get back to Earth?

Alyssa’s Questions To Robert Thrisk
To Robert Thrisk
I have some questions for you.
What dose it look like in space?
What was it like to sit with your legs up did your legs fall asleep?
When you went up in the rocket did you get a stomach ache?
How dark is it in space?
Where do you sleep?
When do you now when it is day time and night time?
When do you go to sleep?

Mr. Martian Gets Lost
Mr. Martian was a small but old Martian. He had only three eyes. He also had six legs and he had a unibrow. One day, he saw a meteor coming close to his planet. He put on his jet pack and flew to stop the meteor. He stopped it. Then his jet pack ran out and he fell to Earth. When he crash landed, he saw a sign that said that Robert Thirsk had arrived safely at the ISS. The next lift off, Julie Payette would be travelling to the ISS.
Next, Mr. Martian walked over two transports and three taxis. He walked inside a restaurant, that he thought said “Disco Party”, and since he likes dancing, he went inside and started to dance. He saw a shiny plate gleaming in the light. He walked outside and saw a big sign that said “Lift Off in 5 seconds”. So, he ran and jumped on the space capsule in order to catch a ride home.
The End

Different Sounds
Birds are singing
People are talking
Bees are buzzing all around
Butterflies are flying
Draganflies are doing the same thing
Frogs are making the sounds "ribbet, ribbet"
And there are much more sounds in this world
